The Netherlands experiences many types of weather, and also a lot of wind.
When you're outside and the wind blows straight through your jacket, it's uncomfortable. When you start shivering, you know it: I need a windproof jacket!

What are windproof jackets?

Windproof jackets have a coating on the inside that makes the jacket windproof. Some also have a padded lining so they stay nice and warm on cold days.

If the jacket you want doesn't have a padded lining, you can also choose an inner jacket.
This is a lined inner jacket that you can simply wear under another jacket.

Are windproof jackets also waterproof?

There are many jackets that are also waterproof, pay attention to the water column.

A water column rating of 4000mm, for example, indicates that the jacket has been tested to a water pressure of 4000mm. The higher the water column, the more waterproof the jacket.

Then what about sweating?

Nobody wants to arrive at work or an appointment sweaty after a bike ride.
Therefore, when buying a jacket, check whether it is also vapour permeable.
Many raincoats have all three qualities: waterproof, windproof and vapor permeable.
