The story behind Rainraps: Rainraps began as a simple idea on a rainy day. Stacy Struminger, a New Yorker now living in Richmond, VA, had long felt the need to create a stylish, lightweight, and water-resistant accessory.
This is due to Richmond's often wet and humid climate. In the spring of 2011, a prolonged period of rain left Stacy frustrated by the lack of a fashionable, waterproof garment in her wardrobe.
Stacy searched in vain, but nothing in stores convinced her of rainwear that was also stylish.
A piece of clothing in her closet inspired her to create a water-repellent poncho that was not only practical but also stylish. She shared her idea with her best friend, Rachel Teyssier, and together they decided to make the vision a reality.
This is why a revolution in the development of fashionable water-repellent outerwear began and RAINRAPS was developed.
