Our own (cycling) experience in the rain:

The roads are becoming increasingly busy and the chance of traffic jams , even in small villages, is increasing.
Sometimes it can be that a simple car ride, like taking the kids to school, can easily take three quarters of an hour. You drive to school at walking pace, all in a row.

And then there is the parking problem, normally it is already busy to park at a large school.
But parking your car at school in the rain is simply chaos, but so is finding a way out afterwards to get to work on time.

As a father of four, I therefore put the children in their rain gear , and I am provided with the following:

As a (rain)coat I wear the Tanta Cel in the orange color Harvest Pumpkin .

Tanta Cel men's raincoat - Classic and waterproof

When it is a bit colder I wear an InnerJacket from AGU underneath.

My gloves are the Gloves from Rains . That's nice, because with rain and then wind, you have cold hands more quickly when you're cycling.

Over my trousers I wear the AGU Go , these are affordable rain trousers that are easy to put on and can also be folded up small.

When it rains really hard, I have the AGU Bike Boots for my shoes.

During the dark days of the year, I use a reflective vest to be extra visible.

To complete my story, the bike ride to school took 20 minutes in the end, and delivered four dry happy children to the teacher. It is sometimes a bit of a weave around the stationary cars, but we take that for granted.

And with a delicious cup of coffee I think of those other parents who are probably still stuck in traffic...

However, in addition to these advantages of cycling in the rain, I would also like to mention a number of other advantages:

1. Strengthens the immune system: Cycling (in the rain) can strengthen your immune system, you expose your body to different temperatures and weather conditions.
2. Good for the skin: Rainwater can refresh your skin, which contributes to a healthier skin.
3. Less traffic on the cycle path: There are significantly fewer people cycling in the rain, which means you can cycle more peacefully and enjoy it more.
4. Natural cooling: Cycling can be cooling on hot days, but also after a day of working within 4 walls.
5. Mental relaxation: The sound of raindrops can be relaxing and soothing.
6. Improved concentration: Cycling in the rain requires more attention and concentration, which automatically improves your reaction time and alertness.
7. Eco-friendly: Cycling is an eco-friendly mode of transportation, and by cycling instead of using the car, you reduce your carbon footprint, even on rainy days.

Enjoy cycling next time it rains? Think about the above benefits when you cycle past all those stationary cars!

Greetings, Chris Hoogendijk
